We’ve just produced our largest floating hose to date at our Aberdeen branch for ship fuel transfer. We’ve used the Alfagomma 615AA and 2 stainless steel Mann-Tek hose units with lifting hooks and clamps for this project, scroll down to find out more.

Any hose of this magnitude is then subject to hose testing services. Our testing facilities at our Aberdeen branch allow us to test hoses of this size in house hydrostatically, in this case, we tested the hose to 30 bar.
Why Float?
- Safety: Hoses that float and are therefore visible have less chance of entangling in propellers. When holding hazardous cargo, damaged hose and leaks cause more environmental damage when sub-sea.
- Efficiency: Floating hoses maintain a consistent connection between the ship and shore, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted transfer of fluids.
- Ease of Handling: Floating hoses are easier to deploy, retrieve, and manoeuvre. This simplifies the logistics of connecting and disconnecting the hoses, making the process quicker and safer
