Kiowa at Lamma 2023: A brief review

At the beginning of January 2023, Kiowa exhibited once again at the Lamma show: The UK’s largest agricultural and machinery event.

Acting as the ideal platform to engage with new and familiar clients; we were overwhelmed by the level of interest the stand received during the two-day event.

As part of the Alfagomma Group, this was also another ideal opportunity to discuss the latest product developments and our key site service enhancements.

Considering previous attendee feedback, we brought along even more products this year, to really highlight the broad range of hose applications that we regularly support our clients with.

Fluid Power Safety –

Fluid power safety continued to be a big topic of discussion this year, with many farmers concerned about the risks of not using fully integrated hydraulic assemblies as part of their key port to port machinery configuration. The team were quick to provide plenty of reassurance, as Kiowa persists with its commitment to fully compliant production practices; guided by the fluid power safety standards laid out by the British fluid power association.

OEM Support –

The stand also hosted many of Kiowa’s existing agricultural machinery manufacturing partners, who were keen to map out their new plans for 2023/2024 production.

Whilst Kiowa has many years of experience in both machinery hose manufacturing and hydraulic assembly production there’s always new client challenges to meet. Several clients spent time with the team collaboratively exploring new configuration ideas and potential new alternatives such as options from the Alfagomma BioTech Evolution range.

One of the great things about Alfagomma’s BioTech Hydraulic systems is their ability to handle Biodegradable Hydraulic Fluids. The use of these hydraulic systems offers more freedom for contractors, as with many sensitive ecological areas, plant equipment deployed needs to be constructed from environmentally sensitive components to mitigate against habitat damage. These specialist hydraulic assemblies are also part of Alfagomma’s wider Evolution range, offering an enhanced bend radius for better routing and operational versatility, with an abrasion resistant cover as standard; all hoses in the BioTech range meet the latest ISO compliant standards.

Kiowa’s personalised industrial hose branding offering also attracted great interest at the show, with many agricultural equipment manufacturers keen to have all their hoses fully branded to their own specifications. With direct access to hose manufacturing facilities worldwide Kiowa can offer endless options and increasingly more clients are implementing this additional branded option across all their machinery.

Reducing Machinery Down Time –

Visitors to the stand were keen to share with us their experiences of machinery failure, ‘particularly on a Sunday evening in the middle of the harvest season’!

From combines to tractors, many recounted recent stories of oil leaks and burst hoses, with lack of longevity and UV protection blamed for such incidents.

As a solution focused firm, the team were able to actively promote more suitable options to avoid such instances occurring in the future, with many visitors at the event subsequently opting to sign up on the day for one of Kiowa’s tailored support service packages.

Hose Reels –

The stand also attracted great interest towards its range of powder coated and stainless-steel commercial jet wash reels. Kitted out with Alfjet 210 hose and complete with a commercial jetting lance, these reeling solutions provided visitors with an insight into the latest reeling technology for commercial farming applications.

New for 2023, Lamma also saw the launch of our pro-series hose reels for both water and air, in both 3/8 and 1/2 inch, with working pressures of up to 300psi. The pro-series reels have always been a popular choice amongst farming and engineering professionals, for both workshops and farmyards, and now offer even better versatility with slow retraction recoil technology and a pivoting wall bracket as standard; It’s perhaps no surprise that these units exceeded all expectations, with a significant demand amongst visitors across both days of the show.

Slurry Management –

The show also acted as the ideal opportunity to showcase our latest range of Alfagomma slurry safe products, such as Alfagomma’s 202AA, which generated some great interest amongst both contractors and farmers alike. The extreme heat from long-term Slurry storage was a ‘hot topic’ and customers cited challenges around conveying media that was, at times, exceeding over 70 degrees; a temperature many standard slurry hoses would struggle with. The 202AA can handle up to 100 degrees, with visitors relieved to learn they could integrate this new hose assembly into their current slurry transfer system for safely addressing their slurry heat management challenges.

Crimping Support –

The team also brought along a range of UniFlex hydraulic crimpers and cutting equipment, with live self-assembly demonstrations, and a range of discussions surrounding the safe performance of crimping technology.

German engineered, Uniflex products are designed to last and it’s great to be able to provide our customers with crimping machine that’s fully compatible with our latest fully integrated solutions from Alfagomma.

As always, the show was a great success for Kiowa, with footfall exceeding all expectations and the outlook for client planned activity in 2023 only set to grow.
